[Review]
Through her work "Naginataboko", Yoshizawa Hisako invites us to the Gion Festival, the spiritual center of the people of Kyoto.
The most famous of the 33 floats of the Gion Festival is probably the Naginatahoko, which fascinates the viewer with its extravagant majesty.
The "Naginata" that decorates the top of the float is beautifully and decoratively drawn using acrylic, watercolor, and color markers.
The depiction is delicate, and the fine treatment of the upper part of the screen in particular guides the eye to the unique motifs and details.
This work is characterized by the division of space.
The relationship between light blue, which occupies about one-fifth of the screen, and black, which gives a sense of brilliance and change, emphasizes the elegance of the work as a contrast.
